- The blog must have less than 300 followers. (Sadly, this is true, in spite of nearly 4 years of diligent blogging. I think switching over to blogspot from wordpress did us more harm than good.)
- When someone receives the award, he or she must thank the giver on their blog. Thanks, Marion!
- To keep the ball rolling, the winner must share the love by giving the Liebster Blog Award to their own 3-5 favorites....
So it's sort of like a chain letter for bloggers. The whole point is to draw attention to hidden gems and encourage people to comment on the blogs that inspire them. I think it's a great idea, and I'm so pleased that Marian took the time to call us out, all the way across the globe. It's always nice to find out that your words have an impact on people, even in a small way. In the spirit of community, I'd like to call out my 5 favorite Portland ladies who maintain wonderful blogs without any real regard for monetary gain. I personally know these women, and while they are all truly successful in their own right, they never make decisions based on straight "profitability." They're definitely in it for love, not money. So while I'm not sure how many followers they actually have, I'm sure that they would appreciate some attention:

Thanks for doing what you do, ladies!
